Digital art (Photoshop) , surreal

At a fist glance, this work evokes uneasy feeling. Colour palette used and symbolist style details used tell the story of consequences of industrial approach of humanity to progress, connected with two small clocks in top corners gives the impression of continuity of industrialism.

Even though this piece at fist calls for a critique of today's society the author gives a glimpse of a fragile balance between biological and artificial in the past, present and future, as symbolised by fragrant fish in the metallic sea and monolithic Penguin head that contests surreal machinery in its struggle to symbolize nature in its purest form. That struggle is symbolised in concept as well, primarily by using dark colours on the both sides of the picture and the red crane in the middle that gives the impression of opposition giving it striking visual balance. On the left side, symbolised by abstract structures that draw thoughts to dirty mechanical factories and dark, scrambled penguin head on the right pushing for the idea of struggle even further. Even though its head is highly "poisoned" by artificial, going to such extremes of turning its eye into a old porthole in the reflection of it, we can still see its power- power of nature depicted as three small penguins living free somewhere far away.

This piece defiantly depicts a World in global but also a struggle on individual basis. We are all floating around this World, always trying to reconcile what we are and what we "need" to be. So often we forget to think about and better ourselves and end up black like this penguin, but remember! There is always a glimpse of you underneath that dark machinery, so why not three penguins chatting freely!

so yes, this piece is one of the authors best. Its planned well, deeply thought through and executed very well. It shows that the artist has put so much of its own thoughts and concepts in it. She has let her own self drip into the art giving us glimpses of her thoughts, fears, dreams and wishes.
